The eagle and the peacock “
To my granddaughter and to all the teenagers
Read me and reread me (sometimes)
At your age we value beauty, fashion, exteriority and all that life and the media show us as a banner of joy! But this is the life of the show, clearly you don’t see the bitter, miserable and disappointing background. Life, however, is not a stage, it is a long road, sometimes tiring and, every human being, must trace his path, must realize and pursue his goals (in this no one can help you … only your will, your commitment and your tenacity). I invite you to outline and try to understand what you want to do when you grow up, choose what you are passionate about, what your soul suggests to you, yours and nobody else’s. I would never want you to dream of being a peacock, with an amazing wheel, that shows everyone with superb gait, but it’s still a turkey that can’t fly! I would like you to be Aquila, who flies high over poverty and banality, who lands on the granite rocks of the snowy peaks and with a look seems to say: “You poor people can never enjoy the magnificent spectacles of Nature!” allegory, but whoever becomes eagle, has a different look from the others, in his casket he possesses the wealth of knowledge and knowledge, he does not lower himself to compromises and pettiness and surely he is on a higher step than the shapeless crew!
The Lord has granted you so many gifts, but beauty is not enough, true beauty is interior beauty, it is that light which gives the glitter and which gives the human being a superiority that all others recognize. I would like to see that light in your eyes and you too must want it because only this will give you joy and make you feel good about yourself and others. It is a difficult journey but it is conquered step by step, day after day, as a work in progress. Only in this way you will never get bored, you will never waste your time and you will make it captivating and full of contents necessary for your training. I want you this way: beautiful but full of values, with the aura of mystery! Mine are not empty words, I wish you could achieve all this. You will have to work on it, but that inner light will illuminate your path. Give the body all it deserves but above all nourish your soul! If you knew all the girls of the show and even the faint of common life, how many humiliations they have to undergo … they are used, abused and then put aside because the others arrive, newer and fresher; then they go into depression and cry bitter tears in the darkness of their bedroom. Never give yourself lightly, never think: they all do so … no, darling you are a special girl, never trivialize the important and significant moments of life!
Looking at us grandparents you will think: they are old, they have wrinkles, ailments, they do not understand me … Yes, my dear, it is true, but we too have been young and, slowly we have filled our lives with joys and sorrows, always though in the name of honesty and moral integrity! We are petulant and grumpy, but in 80 years you will be too! Support us, therefore, and love us for what we are! Many young people, those who do not set goals, let themselves be tempted by drugs and alcohol, they say that they feel good and that they give joy … believe me it is a road of sorrow that leads to despair and death! Run away if someone invites you to enter the artificial paradise … just trust your parents and family.
Dear granddaughter, my wish is: “MAKE YOUR LIFE A MASTERPIECE!”
